How Wanderlustletsgo Began
Wanderlustletsgo started as a secret Instagram account that Cassie used as a way to document and create a personal travel-focused portfolio. It was secret until she realized there was a demand for personalized travel recommendations. Anytime someone was going to one of her frequented Southern beach destinations, or visiting Seattle where she used to live, friends and connections of friends would constantly reach out for tips and recommendations on what to do or where to eat.
Cassie began saving all of her recommendations in google docs, but then realized what good is a google doc that requires requested access when she can share her travel tips and tricks with more than just friends? She also realized she had already taken so many photos (reminder: the @wanderlustletsgo Insta account) that could be paired with her recommendations and transformed into a site for both the weekend traveler, and the world traveler.
The Beginning of Wanderlusting
Cassie’s love for traveling stemmed from her parents who always made a point to take her and her siblings different places during their childhood. But what really sparked her deeper connection to travel was when she traveled abroad to both Europe & Asia while in her undergrad on a global marketing study abroad program, visiting seven different countries in twenty-two days. Cassie never felt more alive than during that experience, and every other abroad experience that followed. By creating @wanderlustletsgo she hopes to ignite that same experience for someone who has never taken an interest in traveling or exploring their own home cities.
The Wanderlustletsgo Differentiator
There are SO many sites out there that offer travel recommendations. This is one of thousands of travel blogs. The difference between this site and another you stumble upon on the internet is the growth and direction Cassie would like to take @wanderlustletsgo. Her goal isn’t to tell you how to quit your job and pursue an influencer lifestyle of traveling for a living (although that does sound kind of nice), nor is it to make every place she travels to look as picturesque as possible. There is so much more to travel than beautiful scenery and viewpoints.
The growth of this site is aimed at providing recommendations just like a friend would about the highs and lows of destination traveling without skirting around the hard parts of traveling, e.g. cost, navigating a foreign land, etc. Traveling begins with the research. Cassie’s goal is to do as much research for you as possible so when you do purchase one of her extensive travel guides, there is little left to be done so you can simply say, “let’s go!” Cassie provides guides for purchase to save time for those who don’t love the research part of travel. After she’s got that down to a science, Cassie will begin offering custom travel guides and will even book all flights, activities, and excursions too.
